2-weeks on analyzing often difficult legal data

*Techniques for the Analysis of Legal and Judicial Data*
*Dates:* July 12-23, 2021
*Instructor: *Miles Armaly, University of Mississippi
*Registration Deadline:* July 8

This workshop introduces participants to a number of techniques that are
useful in the analysis of legal and judicial data. Certain difficulties
frequently plague scholars and practitioners in the analysis of such data,
and this workshop offers a survey of techniques to handle these
difficulties. The topics covered (among others) include analyzing
necessarily nested data (e.g., justice votes on a case within a term),
measuring latent traits (e.g., ideology), using text as data, and causal
inference when traits (e.g., sex) cannot be randomized.

*Bio: *Miles Armaly is an assistant professor in the Department of
Political Science at the University of Mississippi. He received his PhD
from Michigan State University's Department of Political Science.
