2021 Summer Program kicks off May 3
We are fewer than three weeks away from the official start of the 2021
ICPSR Summer Program, and we have an incredible new workshop to get us
started!

*Racial Identities and PoliticsDates:* May 3-7, 2021
*Instructor: *Ashley Jardina, Duke University
*Registration Deadline*: April 29

This one-week workshop will focus mostly on the nature of racial identities
across different racial groups, and it will consider the ways in which
racial identities have become more or less salient components of American
political discourse over at least the past decade. It will cover best
practices for measuring identities using survey methods, delving into
theoretical expectations for the ways in which these identities are
associated with political preferences and behavior. The workshop will
include exercises involving secondary analyses of various survey datasets
to be based upon participants’ own research interests.

*Bio:* Ashley Jardina is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at
Duke University. Her work focuses on racial attitudes, racial conflict, and
the way in which group identities influence voting behavior and political
