While the snow-sun- rain-repeat pattern here in Ann Arbor has confused our
seasonal signs, the calendar confirms it is time for ICPSR’s winter edition
of DataBytes!

The Temperature is Rising for the 2017 Summer Program!

Registration for the 2017 Summer Program
<http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/sumprog/> is open. The four-week courses run
June 26-July 21 and July 24-August 18. And, numerous three- to five-day
workshops beginning in May are also in the mix!
DataLumos Illuminated and Ready for Data

ICPSR has joined widespread efforts to preserve valuable US government data
that may be hard to find or inaccessible in the future. DataLumos
<http://www.datalumos.org/> launched on February 15 as a crowd-sourced
repository where the public can archive government data resources, ensuring
their long-term availability. For more information, please visit the

UX Testers Wanted!

ICPSR is remodeling its data infrastructure and user experience (UX) from
the point of data deposit to point of access. The goal is to create a more
intuitive UX with added data tools. Testing the UX will be paramount to
achieving this goal over the course of the next several months. Interested

Representatives*. With over 17 workshops and sessions in development, this
biennial meeting will highlight ICPSR’s core functions, featuring current
data collections and data-related tools and exciting new data projects. The
meeting will also feature practical approaches and strategies to work with
data producers to share data, write data management plans, steward
discipline-focused repositories, and locate tools and resources to assist
in curating and managing research data. Watch your emails for program
information and the registration site available in late spring! *The
meeting is open to individuals from member institutions*

Extending ICPSR's Hall of Fame

As part of its mission to support the social and behavioral sciences, ICPSR
presents biennial awards

to individuals who have distinguished themselves in their service to the
social science and data communities. We invite you to help us identify the
2017 winners of the Warren E. Miller Award for Meritorious Service to the
Social Sciences and the William H. Flanigan Award for Distinguished Service
as an ICPSR Official Representative. Please email nominations to
mf-awards at icpsr.umich.edu by April 30, 2017.
