[DDI-users] Dataverse - DDI development: variable tags question

Hi folks,

We are trying to compile a list of DDI fields at the variable-level for recommended use in Dataverse http://dataverse.org . This could include variable tagging to improve system understanding for weighting, restricted data, visualization, etc. As well as variable metadata editing, including the ability to add and edit variable-level metadata in Dataverse. 1.       What DDI field would you use to tag variable data types? E.g. string, category, ordinal, nominal etc. What about weights, time, or geographic variables?

a.       What fields in DDI-Codebook or Lifecycle do you recommend?


2.       Are there controlled vocabularies for this that can be used to further the structure around variable-level tagging in Dataverse?
