DDI-users -- Data Documentation Initiative Users Group

About DDI-users
English (USA)

The Data Documentation Initiative (DDI) is an effort to establish an international criterion and methodology for the content, presentation, transport, and preservation of "metadata" about datasets in the social and behavioral sciences. Metadata (data about data) constitute the information that enables the effective, efficient, and accurate use of those datasets.

The purpose of this list is to allow people who are interested in the development and implementation of the DDI specification to communicate with each other and with the committee that is guiding the development of the specification.

The current product of the DDI Committee's work is an eXtensible Markup Language (XML) Document Type Definition (DTD) that expresses the current DDI model. To see the DTD and other information about the project please go to the <A href=HTTP://www.icpsr.umich.edu/DDI/> DDI Web site </a>.
