[DDI-users] Automatic generation of variable-level metadata fromSAS/SPSS files

Nesstar Publisher (http://www.nesstar.com/) can import an SPSS file, and
then export a DDI file, which I think accomplishes what you want. It's
not scriptable, but if you don't mind doing it manually, (and paying for
Nesstar), it's a great tool.

Subject: [DDI-users] Automatic generation of variable-level metadata
fromSAS/SPSS files

Has there been any attempt to process data directly from SAS or SPSS
files into variable-level metadata? Is this just not feasible? Or has it
just not been done?

Thanks.
