Dear Colleagues,

The Alliance for the Data Documentation Initiative (DDI) announces a
new version of its Document Type Definition (DTD) and a newly revised
Web site.

Version 2.0 of the specification incorporates several enhancements,
most notably an aggregate/tabular data extension that permits the
markup of aggregate data. The comments history section of the DTD
delineates all of the revisions to the DTD since Version 1.0 was
published in 2000. To view the new DTD:

The Web site (http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/DDI) also has some new
features, including

A FAQ page: http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/DDI/codebook/faq.html
Getting Started with the DDI:

Please review the new site and send suggestions for improving it to
ddi@icpsr.umich.edu. Thank you for your support of this important
effort.

Regards,
Mary
