Secondary Data Analysis and the National Addiction & HIV Data Archive
Program (NAHDAP)

June 24-26, 2020, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

*Instructor(s):*

   - Jennifer Rose, Wesleyan University
   - Lisa Dierker, Wesleyan University

This three-day workshop will support participants in planning and
conducting secondary data analysis using data sets from the National
Addiction and HIV Data Archive Program (NAHDAP). Sessions will include
brief presentations focused on the nuts and bolts of secondary data
analysis followed by hands on workshop sessions that include one-on-one
consultation for conducting your own research. We will consider study
design, measurement, data management decisions, selection and use of
different analytic tools, best practices in written presentation of results
for publication, and available funding opportunities for secondary data
analysis projects. Each participant’s experience in the workshop will be
individualized to her/his own interests, background and needs. Early career
participants are especially encouraged to apply. SAS and/or R software will
be used for course examples and these and other statistical programs (e.g.,
SPSS, Stata) are supported during lab time. Participants are asked to bring
their own laptops.
