Love Data Week starts today!

What better way to love data than to adopt a dataset? This year, you can
adopt an ICPSR dataset for your very own.

What does it mean to adopt a dataset?

Adopting a dataset is kind of like adopting a dog, except less messy. When
you fill out your Dataset Adoption Form <http://bit.ly/2DhUNgI>, you can
expect to feel warm fuzzies and a deep sense of pride. Adopters will also
receive a personalized Certificate of Adoption.

Your role is to bring your dataset to life by learning about the
information it contains, and introducing it to anyone who hasn't met it
before (by sharing via email and social media).

How to adopt a dataset:

   1. Visit the Adopt A Dataset <http://bit.ly/2SlPcQW> page at ICPSR.
   2. Scroll to the bottom to review the list of datasets available for
   adoption (or choose from any dataset in the ICPSR holdings
   <http://bit.ly/2USfPtD>).
   3. Fill out the Dataset Adoption Form <http://bit.ly/2DhUNgI>.
   4. Within 24 hours you'll receive a personalized email with your
   Certificate of Adoption.
   5. Share your new dataset with friends, colleagues, email lists and
   social media. Invite others to adopt a dataset too (shareable images and
   more are on the Adopt A Dataset <http://bit.ly/2SlPcQW> page).

for email templates, social media promos, downloadable adoption images and
more. Or just forward this email! This is a great way to introduce students
and data-nervous colleagues to the joys of data.
