Dear Colleagues,
This is a gentle reminder of a rapidly approaching deadline for early
registration at WWW.TRANSTEC.GR. Authors of the 110 accepted abstracts with
a PAN have already been notified and given instructions (if you are an
author and you did not receive notification please let us know).
General attendance is the option open to any delegate that does not have an
accepted abstract and is not affiliated with a sponsor or an
exhibitor. Participation options for sponsors and exhibitors are also
available directly from ALVIA at considerably discounted
attendance/registration fees.
Please let me or Ms. Markou know if you have any questions or need
additional information. Below are a few most frequently asked questions:
1. Presentations
There are two types of presentations in this conference: A short and a long.
- Each short presentation is about ten minutes and will be in a round table
format. You will be given the option to provide handouts and explain your
research using a display (format will be provided later).
- Each long presentation will be about 20 minutes with a 5-10 minute
discussion using powerpoint presentation and overhead projector.
More details will be coming in the next few weeks with a final program in
June 2004. There are 110 offered presentations spanning a wide spectrum in
transportation practice and research and many interesting technology
applications.
There are also a group of invited keynote speeches to describe the state of
the art and special sessions organized by the steering committee (see
www.transtec.gr) that may follow either of the two formats depending on the
session organizer.
2. Registration
In addition to the web site you can register by printing the registration
and sending it by fax to ALVIA. Alternatively you can make a direct
deposit at:
When you will make the deposit, please make sure that the following details

3. Entry VISA requirements:
ALVIA will provide individualized, if needed, entry requirements to Greece.
However, Greece does not require you to obtain a visa for visits of up to
90 days if you are a citizen of another European Union country, Canada,
Australia, Japan, and the United States. Also citizens from many other
countries do not need a visa. See the following site for up to date
information: http://gogreece.about.com/cs/practicalinfo/a/greecevisareqs.htm
In case of doubt please call Filio Markou at ALVIA soon
(filio.markou at alvia.gr).
4. Hotel reservations and travel
If you intend to stay at the congress hotels you need to reserve your room
through ALVIA using the registration form at www.transtec.gr. If you prefer
an alternate accommodation ALVIA can provide information and facilitate
your search but in any case you need to register for the congress.
ALVIA can also help you with congress related and pre or post congress
travel plans.
5. Congress proceedings
The Congress proceedings will include all the presentation abstracts, the
program, and participants details. Depending on the availability of
finalized papers we will also attempt to include the papers. ALVIA is also
working on all other material that will be provided on site.
We are all looking forward meeting you in Athens.
