Hi all,

In the lead up to IASSIST 2011, to encourage discussion of DDI as an
active part of data collection, as opposed to metadata reuse and
archiving, I have been structuring notes for the talk "Introducing
Ramona: a DDI3-based web-questionnaire generator" as a series of
tutorials and discussion points. Unfortunately, I won't be able to
attend IASSIST2011 to present this talk, but I hope these tutorials
wiil help new and old members alike start working to develop tools for
data collection using DDI.

Over the coming 2 weeks I'll be finishing writing these up and pushing
a few small tools and some example code from demonstration systems out
for people to review.

Questionnaire Design with DDI - Part 1: Will this survey ever end?
-  A look at predicting the end of a DDI survey and looking at how to
properly structure a DDI Instrument.
Questionnaire Design with DDI - Part 2: Where am I?
- Examining why DDI has issues with non-predictability of movement
through an instrument, and how to work around this.
Questionnaire Design with DDI - Part 3: What am I doing here?
- A look at best practices for what control structures to include in
sequences and how to deal with logical structures and questions.
Questionnaire Design with DDI - Part 4: Can it be done?
- A look back at the final 3 tutorials and looking at Ramona - A proof
of concept tool for data collection using DDI.

Part one is available now at: http://bit.ly/DDIQ_p1
And along with this the first of a new set of tools for analysing DDI
instruments, named Sheri is up here: http://bit.ly/DDI_Sheri

I hope everyone has a great IASSIST, don't have to much fun without me
- and I hope to you all at EDDI2011!

Cheers,
Sam Spencer.
