Information Management | Information Management Analyst - full time, 
permanent
Statistics New Zealand is seeking applications for a positive, 
enthusiastic person to join our Information Management unit as an 
Information Management Analyst. 
Our unit is striving to promote a culture of good information management 
practice, process and systems in our organisation and we are therefore 
looking for an innovative team player who enjoys engaging with a variety 
of people to promote positive change. This is also a great opportunity to 
dip into some technical areas, as this role will focus on statistical data 
management and will require a good understanding of metadata.
Your role will be to actively promote, develop and support good 
information management practice, with an emphasis on improving our 
metadata management practices. Your role will include the following:
·       developing metadata management practices and processes 
·       promoting best practice to statistical teams across the department 

·       working with standards, including the Data Documentation 
Initiative (DDI) and Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX) 
·       contributing to the operation of the department's data archive.
We encourage you to apply if you are a good communicator, enthusiastic and 
have experience in any of the following areas:
·       managing end-to-end data processes across a large organisation 
·       promotion of transformational change 
·       developing and delivering training in processes and systems 
·       communications or engagement with users/customers.
An understanding of XML, databases, basic programming or related I.T. 
skills would be useful but not essential.

The Information Management unit supports staff at Statistics NZ to create, 
organise, access, and use information assets. This includes management of 
statistical data, along with its supporting documentation and metadata, as 
well as all other types of business records. The unit's responsibilities 
include management of the Statistics NZ library collection, the Statistics 
NZ data archive, oversight of intranet content and structure, offsite 
document storage and deployment of corporate information management tools.

fixed-term
This is a fixed term position until 30 June 2012, which is part-time (2.5 
days per week).

Information Management Analyst.

practice, process and systems in our organisation and we are therefore 
looking for an innovative team player who enjoys engaging with a variety

management and will require a good understanding of metadata.

statistical metadata according to international statistical metadata 
standards 
·       working with a new metadata repository 
·       promotion of metadata management best practice.

·       using XML and XSLT 
·       developing and delivering training in processes and systems 
·       communications or engagement with users/customers 
·       data entry.
An understanding of statistical terminology is useful but not essential.
