Hi all,

As some people may have noticed, over the past few months I've been
working on putting together a set of open-source tools to help users
manage their Codelists/Classifications/etc... in DDI.

Today marks the first release of Virgil c2d, a generic CSV to DDI
converter tool as a standalone Windows Executable. With CSVs being the
lowest common denominator for data formats, the goal was to create a
tool that could consume a wide variety of CSV structures and convert
these to DDI. While the CSVs do need to be structured in some way,
users will have options as to the structure.

The announcement blog post is here:

A direct download to the executable:
http://code.google.com/p/virgil-ui/downloads/detail?name=virgil-csv-converter_v0.0.1b.zip
A blog post on the types of structure the tool will consume:
http://www.kidstrythisathome.com/2011/06/virgil-ui-from-legacy-to-csv-to-ddi/

This forms a large and useful part of the Virgil tool that has been
displayed before, and will make it easier for users to start
converting data into DDI3.1 and beyond. If you have not seen the
Virgil tool in action, see this post:
http://www.kidstrythisathome.com/2011/05/virgil-ui-announcement-and-pre-alpha-demonstration/

At the moment, there is a plan to release a beta of the full Virgil
tool in mid-to-late August (dependent on the quality of the Australian
ski season).

Cheers,
Sam.
