[DDI-users] Csaba's questions

Hi, Csaba.
1.Your first question: the bibliographic citation CANNOT be repeatable
because it describes ONE study and it is assumed that the same item (study)
cannot be described in several different ways. You can obviously have
several authors, producers, etc. for one study but you have to list them
WITHIN the same citation. These are universal rules that apply to
bibliographic citations, they're not just specific to the DDI. The same
applies to library holdings, etc. - one description for one item.
2. ISO date format: not sure about this one, but I don't see why not.
3. There are no rules now in the DDI that would prevent you from using
"nonembargo" in the ID. Try it if you think it will work for you.

My best
Sanda.

Dear list members,
Thanks to your help, we could make our DDI xml sample file. But we have
some small problems.
We planned to use <biblCit> 2.1.7 as an automatically generated field from
producer, date, title and similar fields. But it isn't repeatable, though
the author responsibility or producer is. It seems to me completely
illogical. Is there any way to repeat <biblCit> 2.1.7?
The ISO date format is the other problem. Firstly, lots of our old "study
descriptions" are not very standard, the date fields (contain alphabetical
caracters, mention only the year, etc.). Please tell me whether it is a
correct solution to transform the incomplete date records to YYYY-00-00
format, simulate month and day with two zeroes.
In <varQnty> 3.1.4.2 element an ID parameter could be used. Can we use any
value for this? It would be easy to solve our problem if we could use
an ID="non-embargo" in <varQnty> 3.1.4.2 element.
best regards,
csaba
